About us

Welcome to Bright Orphanage Project Uganda

Welcome to Bright Orphanage Project Uganda, a dedicated non-profit organization committed to transforming the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children in Mbale, Eastern Uganda. Our mission is to provide these children with the care, support, and opportunities they need to build a brighter future.

Challenging the Orphanage Paradigm in Uganda

Help raise $30,000 for the community of Stanwood Camano.

In Uganda, about 50,000 children are growing up in orphanages. Nearly all have family.
Orphanages make orphans out of children. Every day, families in crisis or poverty are forced
to give up their children in the hope of a better
life. Decades of research prove what we know in our hearts:
We ensure that the children’s physical, emotional, social and spiritual development is
nurtured by consistent encouragement. Our goal is to instill within each individual a model of
love, safety, purpose, productivity and service to others.

What makes us different?

Our programs are designed to address the various needs of the children, including education, health and well-being, community outreach, and skills empowerment. We provide access to quality schooling and vocational training, ensuring that each child has the skills and knowledge to build a successful future. Our health initiatives prioritize medical care, nutrition, and mental health support, ensuring the children grow up healthy and resilient.

Community involvement is central to our approach. We work closely with local authorities and community members to offer comprehensive support to families in crisis, helping them stay together and preventing the unnecessary separation of children from their communities. Our skills empowerment programs equip children and youth with practical skills that enhance their employability and economic independence.

We invite volunteers from all over the world to join us in Uganda, contributing their time and expertise to make a difference in these children’s lives. Whether it’s teaching, gardening, or other skills, your involvement is highly valued and appreciated.

Our vision is to establish a homestay and school on our own land, creating a safe and nurturing environment where children can thrive and realize their full potential. We are committed to seeing that our children grow up healthy, happy, and prepared for a successful future.

Safe havens for support

Children in poverty are more likely to be exposed to the stress of violence, gangs and drugs. This can negatively affect brain development and long-term well-being. Your support during this vulnerable time helps children and youth set their own goals to build a life free from poverty.

Good that grows

When you sponsor a child, you create a powerful multiplier effect. You help them see beyond the daily struggles of life in poverty. Your support releases them from a cycle of short-term decisions and helps them gain the ability to begin contributing to their own families and communities.

Customized programs

Sponsorship encompasses key programs specifically designed to address a child’s toughest issues in their fight against poverty. Getting and staying healthy, staying in school, finding a stable job. You can help a child overcome challenges they’d otherwise face for a lifetime.

“I realize that school can help me achieve my goals and improve my life.”
